How to Achieve your 2020 Goals and Get More Work Done

The year began in quite a rush and I’m like how did we get this far. January is almost over and if you are like me and haven’t started getting anything done, sit down relax for this blog post is just for you.

 I have a big problem getting things done when I need them to be done, major procrastination issues I say. Please don’t be like me. I still wonder to myself why do I avoid doing something that I actually love and enjoy doing, honestly don’t know why.

 Back to the matter at hand, 2020. Before this year began I set out a list of goals I hope to achieve this year. the most important was for me to be a more active blogger, two weeks have gone and that brings me to my first blog post of the year.

As I kept on thinking about the work I have failed to do, I realized I still wasn’t getting any work done.

This brings us to seven ways to get more work done and achieve your goals this year. Like I said last year, this year we are securing the bag and I’m going to try my best to do more.

1. Think less and take action first

Stop thinking, the mind is crazy and you always find a way to convince yourself that you don’t need to do it right now. One way I found that has made me think less, is how I start my day. These days I try to start my day by doing something productive. If you start your day with something productive, you won’t be slacking the whole day.

Try to form the habit of getting up from bed every morning and doing something, anything that doesn’t involve you sleeping on the bed. Who doesn’t love the comfort of their bed, I do and that’s where I’m so comfortable to have all my crazy thoughts as I watch time pass me by. If you get active the first time you wake up, there’s a high possibility of you having a very productive day and get the work done.

2. Make small tasks out of your main goals

If I have the main goal of reading two self-help books this month and I set a task of reading one chapter of each book a day, maybe one at night and one in the morning. If the book has 30 chapters, I’d be done in 30 days with an extra day to ponder on what I have learnt.

 Now that’s a goal achieved. Sometimes we have overwhelming goals, that seems so difficult to accomplish because we keep looking at only one way out, that is doing it all at once. There are several ways to kill the bird, start by making small wins, till you can complete your goal.

My fellow weight watchers, you can’t change in a day it takes a gradual process. Any quick way out will make you too comfortable because you didn’t appreciate the process, then before you know it you are back to square one. If your goal this month is to control what you take in, which is the fundamental of weight loss. You can take a week to master eating twice a day instead of your usual three meals ration.

Just by doing that you would have cut down 500 calories from your diet. The following week would be a level up of the last week diet. I hope we get the point here, no matter what your goal is, make small tasks out of it, complete it and then watch yourself achieving your goals.




3. Always set a deadline

This point speaks for itself. After you have set your small tasks out of your main goals, its time to set a deadline to make sure that you complete the task when you say you would and on time. Procrastination kills dreams, don’t let it kill yours.

4. Reward yourself each time you complete a task

 Every time you complete a task before a deadline, you can gift yourself something like a treat. For me, a trip to the movie theatre would be a great reward.

5. Think the long way and persevere

 Imagine how great it would be after all the hard work you are putting into your goals this year, you graduate from college, you are richer because you were able to generate more income streams, you lost the weight, you gained muscle, you had a great personal development.

Don’t quit just yet, think of what it would feel like if you achieved your goals. So just persevere and go harder, have no regrets. Always remember why you set the goals in the first place. Stay grounded to your vision. Work hard at it. Good work is a work best done.



6. Don’t waste time on losses and mistakes

I never said it would be easy. In fact, it would be hard cause you have never wanted anything this bad and have never worked this hard before, but you can, you will because you know what you want. Yes you will make mistakes and you will lose at times, but the defining moment of your success is what you do with that mistake and loss. Are you going to waste time thinking of how much you are a failure or you are going to go back to the drawing table and try harder? No one can do it but you.



7. PRAY and Keep Faith

No matter how hard you work, you won’t make it if you don’t pray and have faith in yourself.       

I wish you all the best in achieving your goals, it won’t be easy but I hope we can all gather here come December 2020 and proudly say, we did it.
